Andrei Posted November 10, 2008 Author #1026 Posted November 10, 2008 NYC Flea Market, 1980s. With the following pants.
Andrei Posted November 10, 2008 Author #1028 Posted November 10, 2008 Part of a larger grouping that belonged to SP4 Ritchie, D-Troop 3/4Cav Blues, 25th ID then F-Troop 4Cav.
Andrei Posted November 10, 2008 Author #1035 Posted November 10, 2008 The last two sets belonged to a SF/SOG captain who became FBI agent after the war. My mate Mike from Brooklyn bought them directly from him in the late 70s/early 80s at one of the first and few NYC militaria shows. The Gold set is brand new unissued and never worn by the officer. Mike took shirt and pants himself out from the bags.
Mike Force Posted November 10, 2008 #1037 Posted November 10, 2008 Hi Filupe, thanks for sharing all the nice scans of the old Gung-Ho magazines its interesting to see that some people already paid attention in the early 80’s on tigerstripe uniforms! That’s nostalgia like today each tigerstripe garment a piece of nostalgia is as well! Hi Andrei, you got a great collection of tigers! I enjoyed the custom made VNMC advisor set!, in the last time I have seen one VNMC advisor set better as the other here! I also enjoyed the mint medium size gold set it’s almost impossibly to find such goldis in this condition!! Your Tiger shirts with patches there are also great especially the one who belongs to the Mike Force guy Jones! Mike

Copran Posted November 10, 2008 #1043 Posted November 10, 2008 hi, My set or VNMC advisor is slightly different from the ones from Andrei and Valery, even it shares some common features (cargo pockets, snap buttons). Mine is probabaly from a NCO rather than officer who has direct embroided grades and vietnamese grades
Copran Posted November 10, 2008 #1044 Posted November 10, 2008 Pants, look of the form of the upper pockets
kammo-man Posted November 10, 2008 #1045 Posted November 10, 2008 Wow !!! What a busy weekend from all of you guys . Everybody needs a good backsliping for all the hard work put into these pages . Ah where to begin in no particular order . MF Custom sets are just that custom, they can come in any material used for making Tigers . I have seen the airborne cut with pockets and wastband made in the light weight poplin , one of my tigerflight suits also is in the poplin but a more thicker grade of material . I have a custom flight suit cut in a childs size also in the same poplin as my 2nd model set , so I would think it is a serious custom choice for talior made uniforms . On a side note you also find the poplin used as liners in the stiff brim shallow crown boonie hat . Got that ?? I am lost explaining that !!!! Only joking . Valley Outstanding marine set named to Whipple !!!! I love it , The fade blows me away The rank ....Yea baby Andrei What can I say ??? Your tigers rate as one of the worlds top collections . Very clean . The Sweeny set is a cornerstone piece that needs no words . Thanks for sharing to the comunity . Filupe Awsome magazine pages , thank you for letting the young collectors see there was life before tigerpatterns . Also for having the sence to put those mags away . RIP Mr Russel ... This man was to me the grand dad of Tiger collecting in the UK due to his classic Military Illustrated 2 part feature . This was to my knowledge the first time I had seen published color pix of tigers in a collector setting . It set many of us up to collect these weird little shirts that will never fit us but look so sexy . Cop You fancy the chicks in the photos?? good to know your standards!!!!! All the best owen
Mike Force Posted November 10, 2008 #1046 Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks Owen!, now I got it Cheers Mike
hochiminhtrail Posted November 10, 2008 #1047 Posted November 10, 2008 Wow im impressed, i really like the TS set that are with patches or name tapes, Andrei has some very nice ones, especially the navy NAG. The VNMC posted by Bob, Valery and Andrei are fantastic. I think i will never be able to get a set of patched and named VNMC myself as its going to get more and more difficult to find these. So again many thanks for posting. Cheers Alex
Spike Posted November 10, 2008 #1048 Posted November 10, 2008 Here's the Military Illustrated mags, this is gonna take up alot of space since the total upload is small and even with making smaller images it's still gonna be one image per page. Part 1 Apr/May 87
