kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 Share #276 Posted July 29, 2008 Interior showing sweatband All hats I have seen have the sweatband cut on the selvedge . There is also 3 small stitches holding the band in place . This follows the same in the Beogam pattern hat . This cap only appears in the big fat stripes and is partner with the central pocket pleates suit.

Copran Posted July 29, 2008 Share #288 Posted July 29, 2008 Hi Kammo Man, I think the 3rd VNMC pattern you mentionned is the one this shirt is made of. The print is like the VMS pattern but the material is lighter, rahter like the VMD pattern (the Sea wave like the Jungle cut set previously shown), and the color is brighter. I think it was issued only in 65-66, the transition between the 2 patterns. VNMC pattern beach ball hat .I have a set in this pattern dated 09 66 . I think there was 4 patterns in use for VNMC and this was the 3rd. This hat is made up using scraps of cutoffs and otherwise scrap material. I have seen all patterns made into this type of hat . Nothing was wasted which I think is rather cool.

Copran Posted July 29, 2008 Share #290 Posted July 29, 2008 Here is an exemple of the VNMC 2nd pattern, the fade is not like the previous one. The material is rather poplin than silky (FYI, the material is the same as the pink windproof)
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 Share #291 Posted July 29, 2008 Hey Cop You are right that is the same shirt . I thing Richard Johnson missed the point regarding VNMC . This is indeed a different pattern . My set is 09 66 just like yours . This is fun for me as my birthday is 28 09 66 . it is a small world . o
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 Share #292 Posted July 29, 2008 That VNMC shirt is a tough shirt to find . I have only had 1 . It was the same as the one you just have shown and the material was indeed silky . My wash was just a little different . Very cool piece of tiger indeed . o
Copran Posted July 29, 2008 Share #293 Posted July 29, 2008 Kammo Man, My best for your birthday, may be you was born the same day of the 1st issue of the VNMC 3rd pattern Me too, I think RdJ missed several things about the pattern, there was also an VNMC pattern that is like JWS pattern, who was issued in 62-63, I bought 1 pair pants of them on Ebay but lost during postal transit (along with my Pink Bonnie), I don't know why but First Class shipment took a while since last months. Here are my 2 shirts, notthin special about the pattern, but made in the AIRBORNE CUT (according to Johnson Book), the Johnwayne pattern is made in light weight. Hey Cop You are right that is the same shirt . I thing Richard Johnson missed the point regarding VNMC . This is indeed a different pattern . My set is 09 66 just like yours . This is fun for me as my birthday is 28 09 66 . it is a small world . o

Copran Posted July 29, 2008 Share #295 Posted July 29, 2008 Hello, Here is the other pattern made for the VNMC, probabaly in the 62-63, it looks like the JWS, the set was first sold by Authentic militaria to the japanese collector for 1500 usd who returned it thinking it s a repro, then sold again to the English collector who sold it again to the polish collector on Ebay for 5000 usd. There is another shirt right now in the hand of Nhaydu soemwhere in California (without buttons).
