Andrei Posted July 28, 2008 Author #251 Posted July 28, 2008 Time to go shut-eye for me, its 01.00 AM here. I really love this forum ! JJ says hello to all the SoCal boys !
kammo-man Posted July 28, 2008 #252 Posted July 28, 2008 That was a real good day , I remember the wosh of thae water and laughing!!!! great decials though ,not to mention a wee bit of cammo thrown in for luck. A I just spoke to Andy and he has to look for the page # He thinks he is in the faces of the regiment , he is sitting on the ground leaning on a lightweight ruck. He has a big mustache and is holding a 60 . The book is the 69-70 Andy was in 3rd -22nd charlie company 25id. He told me the picture was taken just after he returned from Cambodia and was in a very bad mood!!! Its sad to me because he never carried a camera during his tour only 1000 rounds for his 60 . This dude is 6'5 and a big guy. His thing was less gear ,more ammo!! He also NEVER wore a helmet and laughed at me when I asked him about that . I got some bits and pieces from him but nothing out of the ballpark. You would enjoy his stories , that man loves to gab. All the best o
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #253 Posted July 29, 2008 Hi Guys , Here is some more Tigerstripe cammo items. I am showing headgear ,and other treats. It seems they made everything possible in this pattern. All manner of hats . swim trunks in most patterns , bags ,uniforms and what ever else a person wanted. It just goes on and on. Anyway here are some more of my best pieces. all the best o
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #254 Posted July 29, 2008 This is an earily boonie hat with no loops . This one has a white gauze tag inside with a blue 57 size . Nice classic pattern.
Patrick. Posted July 29, 2008 #260 Posted July 29, 2008 owen, i know i am going to interrupt the flow but....i notice the boonie is named, did you get any details on the former owner. Great items by the way. Carry on! Patrick.
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #261 Posted July 29, 2008 There is a debate about these hats ,some poeple call them gold pattern but the material is different ,more lightweight but this hat is in a class all by itself , simply stunning . This is what collecting tiger is all about.
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #263 Posted July 29, 2008 Different angle . These boonies always are halflined with black cotton and have low quality air vents that dont go through the liner .
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #265 Posted July 29, 2008 Here we have a in old school talk is a silver tiger. Or Tadpole pattern . I consider these really hard to find in this pattern. The norm is the John W pattern. Cut is the same as the last gold hat . In 25 years I have only seen 3 of these .
kammo-man Posted July 29, 2008 #269 Posted July 29, 2008 VNMC pattern beach ball hat . I have a set in this pattern dated 09 66 . I think there was 4 patterns in use for VNMC and this was the 3rd. This hat is made up using scraps of cutoffs and otherwise scrap material. I have seen all patterns made into this type of hat . Nothing was wasted which I think is rather cool.
