mmerc20 Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2009 I have a set of Naval pilot wings that are different from others I have and was hoping to find a little more information on them. They are made by NS Meyer, but have a serial number (Ser. No. 270). What does the serial signify? Do all the Meyer wings have this? Mike
John Cooper Posted June 4, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2009 Excellent question as I have seen this on several other Meyer marked wings also with the 2 digit TIOH code and ser number. I hope someone here has the answer. Cheers John

bobgee Posted June 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2009 Modern USMC insignia is often seen with Ser.No. codes which relate to approved patterns. This could be the Naval Aviator badge pattern as approved by the USMC and assigned this code. My 2-cents. Bobgee
none Posted June 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 6, 2009 The serial number is not a serial number. It is USMC Quartermaster manufacturers ID number. Just as Army and AF have IOH IDs this was issued for items purchased by USMC and approved by them in the same fashion as the IOH numbering system. Hope this helps. Maybe we should list all the numbers we find and make a list of manufacturers just as have for IOH numbers? Joe
