Constabulary Posted May 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2009 I once came across two wooden folding chairs. They are US Army issue but I don´t find further information. I know in WWII they already used the metal forlding chairs so I assume these are earlier types. Does someone know the official nomenclature and when they were issued? Pics follow soon
Johan Willaert Posted May 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2009 Official Nomenclature of the wooden model was simply 'Chair, Folding' Yes, some metal ones were already used in WW2, but the wooden ones were still in use in the US and in theater. I've picked up 4 of them near my home in Belgium many years ago

Johan Willaert Posted May 31, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 31, 2009 Yes, those are the QM style wooden chairs of WW2.I have seen them for sale from about 10Euro up to 100 a piece...All depends on condition and how badly the buyer wants it...
VMI88 Posted May 31, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 31, 2009 Are these chairs marked in any way to identify them as military issue, or are they just plain commercial chairs? I'll have to keep an eye open for these at some of the antique stores I visit! Bill
Johan Willaert Posted May 31, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 31, 2009 They are usually marked with US and the maker's mark on the underside of the seat

CaptCav Posted May 31, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2009 These were still being issued to dependents' quarters in Germany, c1956-'59. We had them in every quarters we lived in and I often wondered what we were supposed to do with 4 of them. Play cards?
VMI88 Posted June 17, 2013 Share #10 Posted June 17, 2013 Well, it only took a little over four years but I finally found one at the flea market this morning. Good things come to those who wait!
nebelwerfer Posted June 17, 2013 Share #11 Posted June 17, 2013 hi, nice chair! I found two of them in bad condition, they were marked US 1951, so they were produced in the 50th too. gruß christian
