Rustykamel Posted May 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2009 Some US tobacco companies helped bolster Homefront moral by printing patriotic messages and/or slogans on their cigarette packs. My favorite is the 1944 Old Gold “Freedom” soft pack. There is an interesting story of how one of these special packs was used by a POW in Stalag 17-B. If interested, read it here: http://users.ap.net/~burntofferings/packsoldgold_stalag.html Pall Mall was another popular brand that did something similar using a large “V” for victory. Raleigh Cigarettes featured “Buy War Bonds” while Wings Cigarettes had “Keep’em Flying” printed on the front of the pack. Best wishes, Jim

I did manage however to get a joke wind up mechanical version that I suppose caused some laughter in the war. Once wound up and placed on a table it moves across the surface.
