Lucky 7th Armored Posted May 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 22, 2009 Picked this up recently for about $10 I think the person spelled "endeuring" wrong and it came with a canteen and cover.

craig_pickrall Posted May 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 22, 2009 That isn't a Medic Bag but rather a map case. Are there any markings on it? I suspect it is private purchase. Can you post a pic of the back of the canteen cover? I'm curious how the strap is attached. Makes me think of a Boy Scout with the shoulder strap. hawkdriver Posted May 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 22, 2009 Straps are most likely clipped to the tops of the keeper clips. The bag is a map bag and they are issued through the system, although there are a hundred different varients in the PX. These things are usually known as "Fag Bags" They are typically found around nests of Lieutenants. Still have mine from my Lt. days, the maps are all stuck to the plastic dividers that came with these.
craig_pickrall Posted May 22, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 22, 2009 I thought the strap was attached to the keepers too but wanted to see if there was anything that retains the keepers so they don't slide out. I think the weight of a full canteen would pull them out, especially if running.
Lucky 7th Armored Posted May 23, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted May 23, 2009 There's a makers tag in side it says " Flying Circle Bags (800) 344-7242 assembled in Mexico" And here's a picture of the strap attachment on the canteen cover
Jason G Posted May 25, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2009 The 54th Medical Company was an Air Ambulance unit that did, in fact, serve in Iraq in 03/04. They belong to the 62nd Medical Brigade out of Ft Lewis Washington.

I catch flak for still carrying one on occasion, but I think the map case and the boonie hat are the two most useful pieces of equipment the Army's issued me. And both items are still hated by SGMs
