Bsquirrely Posted May 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2009 Does anybody have a set of original dress blues that are pre or During the WW2 era? I'm looking for some solid reference on the insignia placement and usage. Thanks!

Bob Hudson Posted May 18, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 18, 2009 Cool that covers the CORPS! But , what about the navy and above all the Army ones? No problem: just go to Google - click on their IMAGES link and then type in these keywords: uniforms source:life exactly like that in all small letters. When the thumbnail images come up click those for a larger version and the click those for an even larger version. Here's an example of each version:
B229 Posted May 19, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2009 Cool that covers the CORPS! But , what about the navy and above all the Army ones? Wear of the Army blue dress uniform was suspended in 1941 for the duration of the war, so no one wore them during WWII except in some rare instances. The insignia placement on the pattern 1938 dress uniform, which was the version worn at the beginning of WWII is pretty much the same as the OD service uniform, except no SSI and rank on shoulder straps rather than pinned to the shoulder loops. EM's didn't wear blue uniforms at this point except for very rare occasions. The Navy's blue uniforms are pretty much the same as they are now...except, of coarse, in WWII they were actually blue! I'm sure there are some minor insignia changes and maybe someone else can explain them.
