Schnicklfritz Posted May 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2009 I happened to enlist in the Marines right at the end of the Beruit "presence". One of the Marines I was friends with for a short time was on the USS Iwo Jima I believe as it was stationed off the coast of Lebanon after the Marine barracks was bombed. I cannot recollect his name, but when the USS New Jersey would shell the militias in Beruit, he would dress up in a green leotard with a cape and hooded mask that he made and go up on the flight deck to scream, cheer and root. He said that it was his way of venting off the frustration of what was going on. The officers and such would try to catch him, but he would escape below deck before he could be apprehended. He did this quite often if I remember right. I was wondering if there were any Root vets that remember this fella or even have pictures of him. I remember him showing me photos of himself in the suit on the deck that other took of him. He was one hell of a crazy Marine....
