General Apathy Posted May 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2009 Hi Forum members, on the evening of 7th May I was invited to attend the launch of a new DVD covering the American forces on D-Day 6th of June 1944 in Normandy. I believe the DVD has been aimed at a wide market and not really aimed at the purist collector who has researched the events for their selves, however it is interesting and covers the landings and the airborne assault. |Filmed at the exact locations and times and made in a documentary style this may be the film for WWII and and uniform enthusiasts that have never been to Normandy The presenter Ellwood von Seibold owns the C-47 cafe in St Mere Eglise town square which may be familiar to anyone who has travelled to St Mere Eglise. Ellwood is seen wearing the relevant uniform for which particular scene being narrated, being infantry, rangers, airborne etc and even German uniforms when showing the battle from their perspective. A short promotional clip can be seen on the link below and also allows purchasing the DVD. http://www.shop.milweb.net/proddetail.php?prod=AmericansDDay Cheers ( Lewis )
