need help to ID a metal box

I have not seen this box, but it was described as a metal box with the following stenciled on it, it says "agc unit cw-60 abh. contracts nord 3694 and nord 3638 supplementary b spares"

 

If anyone knows what this box would be for or where/when it was used it's you guys. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

He also has a wooden morter box as well, but I have no idea how to tell the era unless there is an obviouse date. I'm hoping to see if it is worth my time to go and take a look at them.
