What does folding flap do in newer TOW missile tube

I have some old tow missile tubes that don't have the box and flap. The flap is spring loaded. I was wondering if anyone know what its purpose is.

Thanks, I think that manaul is too old for these tubes.

When it opens up, is it hard to push back down?

Does it lock in place?

It protects the guidance wires and keeps them from tangling.

I googled it.
