Vanessa Cannon Posted April 15 #1 Posted April 15 I don't have much info to go on, other than my late grandmother had told me that her sister was dating someone in the military before she had passed away at the age of 21 in 1913. Assuming this large pinback EGA was given to her along with a small sweetheart necklace that I also have, but there's also the possibility these belonged to a different family member. Can anyone help?
stucky151 Posted April 17 #2 Posted April 17 The years of you speak of would match the time frame this emblem would have been worn. It’s a regulation cover emblem that has been modified for wear as a brooch. The stabilizing pin and screw posts have been removed. Its a well executed, converted sweetheart emblem.
Vanessa Cannon Posted April 17 Author #3 Posted April 17 Thanks for the information! 😀 I'm currently doing some research trying to see if I can find who this mystery service man was!! 🧐🤔 Lol
Brig Posted April 20 #4 Posted April 20 Appears to be a nickel-plated cover emblem that was converted... there's debate on what nickel emblems were for, but the dominant theory is that they were worn by members of the band. If you have a name the Marine can be looked up in the Muster Rolls
