CollectorHales Posted April 12 #1 Posted April 12 I recently purchased this medal group for Major Lloyd Smith USAAF command pilot. I didn't receive any paperwork and attempts to get two different U.S. companies to research it have fallen on deaf ears as they said they need date of birth. The clues are command plot wings, and the better medals are period named to him, there are two shooting medals named to him for 20 corps shooting competitions in 1945, he has medals indicating he was in Europe, a badge indicating he was in intelligence and strangest of all a U.K. M.B.E medal indicating he was well thought of in England. I realize some of the medals may not be genuine to the grouping but it would be nice if they were. I've tried my self to find him but can only find a Lloyd smith that was killed in 1944. Any pointers to go forward with this veterans history would be gratefully received. Colin

unclegrumpy Posted April 12 #4 Posted April 12 You said "the better medals are period named to him"...can you post pictures of the engraving? There is likely more than one person here...the Army Good Conduct medal and the MBE would be hard to see going together.
CinamonToastCrunch Posted April 12 #6 Posted April 12 Not a fan all the medals seem to be laser engraved. Enlisted with an OBE?
