The Purple Heart is not a “army” or “navy” award, it is a US Military award and is awarded to all services.  The MOH is service specific as is the good conduct award.  Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and Bronze Stars are the same for all.

Hey, brother - I think he’s asking if the manufacturing features of the specific medal he’s posted make it one issued by the Army or Navy / USMC.

In this case, it is an Army contract award.

A Navy-issued slot broach (Type-III) would have a barrel-shaped lug on the planchette and a gilt sterling suspension ring.

I appreciate the help, wasn’t too sure if it could be a type 3 but army makes sense with the broach it has

Navy Type-III and Army had a nearly indistinguishable broach - can’t rely on that.  Have to look at planchette lug and suspension ring.
