Pecan Posted April 4 #1 Posted April 4 Interested in learning about these crates. I am looking at the hardware and the screws that were used - painted and updated later on? I only trust AI so much with these kind of things so skeptical if this is military or not. Bought for & $9 each.
917601 Posted April 6 #3 Posted April 6 I can add the one with Manila rope is from the 1950's or before. The Black nylon rope handles are 1960's and later. I would remove the paint ( without removing the black lettering and see what ordnance they contained. Older ammo crates are getting up there in price. Looks like you may have two grenade crates.

Wow, that’s great information. I was able to uncover some more details under the paint like you said. Looks like “ Transportation Officer… Depot…” Any advice on removing the paint while keeping the text? I was just using 320/ 400 grit sandpaper.
