Just an Old dude Posted April 2 #1 Posted April 2 I ask the assistance of the awesome forum if anyone can help me identify this patch. I received it in the early 80's from my neighbor Mike Adams who flew Cobra Helicopters in VN. I'm not sure what it represents. Novelty patch or what. The patch is soft as a baby's diaper. The banner says "HERD" I thank you all in advance for any help or insight in advance. OD
vintageproductions Posted April 2 #2 Posted April 2 This is a novelty patch that started appearing in the 80's. The Herd is supposed to represent the 173rd Airborne brigade choking the 101st airborne eagle. It was made to look like Vietnamese embroidery but didn't even come close.
Just an Old dude Posted April 2 Author #3 Posted April 2 Vintage, Thank you for the insight and explanation. Makes sense as I know that was active in reunions and probably picked it up there. I am going to assume that it does not have any collector value or interest. Thank you again for your assistance. OD
Blacksmith Posted April 2 #4 Posted April 2 I think it has value, even as an 80s novelty patch. I would buy one of those if I saw it out.
