Aemond_1eye Posted March 19 #1 Posted March 19 Hi guys, As a WW2 USA medal collector I have been seeking a purple heart medal for a long time. I have come across this Purple heart and was wondering if anyone could confirm if this a WW2 Compatible Purple Heart and if it would be a appropriate in my WW2 medal collection. It has the slot brooch which I believe is a good sign. I am aware that due to the planned invasion of Japan many Purple hearts were produced and some were awarded decades after the war. Overall based on the style of the case and the medal itself should I purchase this Purple Heart for my WW2 collection? Thanks so much for any thoughts.
Blacksmith Posted March 19 #2 Posted March 19 Just my opinion, and I would wait for others before deciding: Something about the drape looks off to me. Specifically, it looks bright / clean (when compared to the ribbon next to it) and looks a little long.
dpast32 Posted March 19 #3 Posted March 19 It does appear to have been Re-Ribboned at some point along the way. That would be my assessment, plus as Blacksmith pointed out above, the Ribbon Drape does appear somewhat too long ? Dom P.
KASTAUFFER Posted March 19 #4 Posted March 19 the ring on the pendant is not correct, It should not be round, The ribbon has been replaced. Is it numbered on the edge? Kurt
