AirMechanic Posted March 16 #1 Posted March 16 Is this a 1923 Bastian Brothers split wrap brooch? It looks very similar to the ones on the USN/USMC Spanish Campaign medals, but many of those brooches seem to have a dark patina, while this one looks gilt. Any thoughts?
Allan H. Posted March 17 #2 Posted March 17 This split brooch does indeed appear to be one of the brooches used by Bastian Brothers on the Speanish Campaign Medals. The catch differs from the split wrap brooches used by BB&B and the US Mint on Purple Heart medals as those have a ball type catch. Allan
USMCR79 Posted March 17 #3 Posted March 17 Bastian made a few WWI "Local" medals and this could be from one of those. Bill
