Valerio Posted March 15 #1 Posted March 15 Hi everyone, I recently recovered the dog tag of Lewis V. McCormick, a Lieutenant Colonel who served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Based on the DD214 and the documentation I’ve gathered so far, here are some service details: Unit: 118th Engineer Combat Battalion, 43rd Infantry Division. Awards listed on DD214: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 4 stars (Guadalcanal, Solomons, New Guinea, and I believe the 4th is Luzon) plus the Bronze Arrowhead), Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 star, and American Defense Service Medal. Rank: He rose from Enlisted to Lieutenant Colonel. I am fascinated by the role of the 118th ECB as "Combat Engineers" in the Pacific. I am happy to preserve this piece of history and I am currently working on a study about his service. If any of the experts here have additional insights on the 118th ECB or McCormick’s career, I would be honored to hear them.
