aznation Posted March 8 #1 Posted March 8 I was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base while I was in the Air Force so I've always been interested in its history. I met my future wife while we were both working at Tinker Air Force Base Hospital and she had worked at the base since she was 17 yrs old, right out of high school and she retired after 38 years of Department of the Air Force civilian service. We currently live about 5 minutes to the east of the base. This base will always be special to us.
The Rooster Posted March 10 #2 Posted March 10 Love the B52 sign Matt! And your story about Tinker and your connection to it. Cheers! Dave

GWS Posted March 11 #4 Posted March 11 So Matt, does this collection mean you are an official Tinkerer?( Sorry, I couldn't resist!) Nice collection with a lot of memories for you and your wife, well done! Steve

Nice collection with a lot of memories for you and your wife, well done! Steve Thank you Steve. My wife and I are Tinkerer's. Only God could've arranged for me to meet and eventually marry the woman of my dreams. She's amazing and one-of-a-kind. I am so Blessed! I've now lived in Oklahoma way longer than my home state of Arizona so I officially call myself an Okie. Who'd have thought.
Scott C. Posted Monday at 10:27 PM #7 Posted Monday at 10:27 PM Great collection and story behind it - thanks for sharing and for your service.

manayunkman Posted 22 hours ago #9 Posted 22 hours ago Some amazing and seldom seen items. Is the B52 a license plate topper or attach to the crown of a bread loaf type mail box?

Hi Peter, so that B52 OCAMA (Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area) has some screw holes on the far right side of it that I believe would've attached to the top of a doorway or area in a shop or place where airplane maintenance was being done. Then I believe some sort of other sign hung down from the lower holes on the bottom.
otter42 Posted 21 hours ago #11 Posted 21 hours ago Matt, Love the story! I think that doorway piece is my favorite too. You should hang it in your bedroom, I'm sure your wife would appreciate it since she worked there. Good thing we don't live closer, I'd get you in all kinds of trouble! Haha
