Guy56 Posted February 23 #1 Posted February 23 Attached are some photos of my 1919-pattern tanker helmet. You can read all about it in, “The U.S. Tanker Helmet: 1917 - 1946 A History Through Time,” by Frank Vanstreels, Paul Reijnders, and Larry Munnikhuysen. An excellent book. One thing that I would mention is that this helmet has been identified as the Chaffee tanker helmet in the past. I’m not sure why, because Adna R. Chaffee Jr was a cavalry officer who really didn’t do too much with mechanized forces until the 1920s. During this period tanks belonged to the infantry per the National Defense Act of 1920, so Chaffee would have been connected to vehicles used by the cavalry, such as combat cars.
Paul Reijnders Posted March 31 #2 Posted March 31 Thanks Guy for the kind wordt about our book .... and I have to say your helmet is Fantastic , congrats Regards, Paul
