Daniel Monroe Posted February 7 #1 Posted February 7 This is my uncle who was an artilleryman in wwI and WWII. can anyone identify the collar insignia, ribbons and division patch? Is the tunic a wool summer issue? Thank You Daniel Monroe
CinamonToastCrunch Posted February 8 #2 Posted February 8 Ribbons are too difficult to tell but the shoulder patch is for the 2nd Division. The collar insignia is for the US Army Signal Corps and it does look like he's wearing a khaki tunic. If I had a name I could do more research and possibly identify the ribbons.
Lightning Tiger Posted February 8 #3 Posted February 8 Shoulder patch for the 12th Field Artillery Regiment, possibly the 1st Battalion.
Lightning Tiger Posted February 8 #4 Posted February 8 Shoulder patch for the 12th Field Artillery Regiment, possibly the 1st Battalion. Here is a link to a thread on the shoulder patches worn by the 2nd Division AEF.
Lightning Tiger Posted February 9 #5 Posted February 9 It appears to be a US Army M1912 tropical/summer service tunic which was made of a lightweight, khaki cotton, or lightweight wool gabardine. Great portrait @Daniel Monroe.

CinamonToastCrunch Posted February 10 #7 Posted February 10 Interesting, his death certificate clearly states he retired as a master sergeant. During WW1 he served with, Battery E, 12th Field Artillery. 2nd Division. His station before his retirement was Headquarters & Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery.
