Alaskan Command Patch?

Hello everybody.

A few years ago I got a small grouping of patches, and this patch was included. I'm not sure if this is the correct section, but I was wondering why it's off-center. Is it just an error? What's up with it?

Thanks!

Wade

It's what the community calls an Error Patch,

And the interesting thing is in rare cases these GOOFS got out to unit level from the factory and seen actual wear.

Here's 9 Pages worth of Errors, Off Centered, Missing Design Features, Wrong Thread Colors  etc etc,  from various time periods and branches.

Are they worth more than their regular counterparts? If so, what's this one worth?

Thanks!

Unlike coins and stamps, error patches have far less value than a properly manufactured patch.  Speaking for myself, I won't even buy an error patch (unless it happens to be a really rare patch and cheap).

Kurt,

Yeah, I probably should have guessed. Though, being a coin collector myself, I just had to be sure.

Thanks!

I might add, if the error makes for a “cool” looking patch (e.g. a 101st A/B missing an eagle tongue or a Tank Destroyer missing the wheels), there might be some collector interest. Your Alaska patch might fall into this category .   But, if the error is substantial embroidery missing in the color field background (such as the 3rd Army above), nobody really wants to pay anything.
