Uniforms of the Day Posted February 4 #1 Posted February 4 Way outside my area of expertise. It comes from a top-shelf collection. I would appreciate info & opinions on this hat. The 6th Infantry insignia is certainly period. The hat shows age consistent with the SAW era. The hat was made by Chron-Karsun, in Astoria, Oregon.

CAC1901 Posted February 4 #3 Posted February 4 Significantly later hat, probably 1930's to 1960's. That company was in business until the early 1970's as I recall. I've seen a lot of their hats of various types over the decades. A lot of Span Am era vets would buy hats that resembled their long gone campaign hat - to wear at USWV or VFW conventions, for veteans day parades, and so on. The insignia was the type in use from the war into the 1910's, but those are easily transferred. Its a neat piece, It would look good with a USWV coat and badges etc.
