Attached are images of my MC1 combat vehicle crewman’s (CVC) helmet. In the 1950s, while the U.S. Army was struggling to field a post WW2 CVC helmet, the Marine Corps adopted the Gentex-made T5 helmet that became the MC1. The helmet’s light-weight helmet shell provides minimal, if any, ballistic protection, and its interior is lined with a sound absorbing Ensolite lining. Like the MC2, the MC1 has a chinstrap. While having an EGA decal was the norm, the decal was often missing or painted over. This helmet has the rank and name of its user, Major Harris, covering where the EGA would be. I also provided a photo of two Marines with MC1 helmets, likely in an LVTP5. The digraph MC on for the MC1, MC2, and MC140 helmet family simply means Marine Corps. The Gentex historian told that to Larry Munnikhuysen and I when we visited the factory about 15 years ago.

Lotta room inside that M26 or M48.

It’s looks like a roomy LVTP5 amphibious landing vehicle based on what I see in the photo.
