Retired Army Noncom Posted January 25 #1 Posted January 25 I have seen these caps with side buttons in brass and darkened brass, which one is properly used or would both be used for US or NG? I have also seen these in both in khaki canvas and khaki wool. I have read about only the canvas ones being mentioned but have seen these both with brass and darkened brass side buttons also. Anyone have a good clarification for these caps? Thanks
Retired Army Noncom Posted January 25 Author #2 Posted January 25 Here is one in khaki canvas with brass side buttons and is NG. Here is one in wool with darkened buttons
Retired Army Noncom Posted January 25 Author #3 Posted January 25 I came across a claim that the brass was used for garrison duty and the other for field duty, I find that rather far fetched!!!
CAC1901 Posted January 25 #4 Posted January 25 All sorts of 'claims' out there. The OD wool and khaki canvas service caps specified, and used, the bronzed eagle buttons. This was also the uniform regs.

ILM Posted March 16 #6 Posted March 16 I have one of these caps but its an officers and the wool seems much rougher but it looks correct.
