ocsfollowme Posted January 20 #2 Posted January 20 Really cool patch, google and bing reverse image comes up empty. Sort of looks Australian made by the front.
MWalsh Posted January 20 #3 Posted January 20 Just pure speculation here… but maybe it’s for a night fighter squadron of some sort? Reason I think that is that many or most of the German WW2 night fighters were twin engine (think ME-110 and JU-88), the dog is black (maybe signifying night?) and honestly it looks like a black lab head (hunting dog). So a squadron that hunted other night fighters. All that just makes me think night unit. I dunno, maybe it’s a start point. Others will likely disagree. The red color on the airplane engine cowlings is an interesting touch… not sure why that detail was included or of that has any significance.
yokota57 Posted January 20 #4 Posted January 20 Looks like a Heinkel 219 (minus the antennae on the nose). Twin verticals eliminates the JU-88. Sadly, this is not an "ID the German Night Fighter" question!
Johnny Signor Posted February 28 #5 Posted February 28 What you have is a fairly rare if not Very rare "personal/nose art" patch from the P-47 of Lt.Hewitt of the 356th Fighter Group, see images .......Note in the one image you can see the patch design very well and also the same patch on his A-2 jacket .
Johnny Signor Posted February 28 #6 Posted February 28 Also note in the one image of the 4 men walking away from his P-47 the "crew member" also has the patch on his jacket at left in the image

Nicely done, Sir.
