At a smidge over 1" this is a little larger than a standard officers coat button plus the odd back.

McGuinn & Bazelon (2006) pg 39 says these are all post 1900, and this specific backmark is already known for Navy buttons. That resource doesn’t generally address diameters.

Self shanked buttons with makers marks are unusual. Here's a picture of the two I've ever seen.
