hink441 Posted January 15 #1 Posted January 15 I recently obtained these heavy duty pants. They were listed as MK V diver chafe pants. Definitely old and somewhat abused, but not torn, and could still be used. Looking to see if these are US Navy and what era? Chris
hink441 Posted January 15 Author #2 Posted January 15 Here’s a few pictures of these type of pants being worn.

hink441 Posted January 15 Author #4 Posted January 15 It’s very possible this is a commercial diver set of pants. I did find this reference on the forum: I know the CPO did not exist until 1893, but I wonder if it’s possible this was a generic enlisted button??
Justin B. Posted January 16 #5 Posted January 16 I don't know what that reference is from, but in the USN CPOs have always worn the standard navy button, the same as officers.
hink441 Posted January 16 Author #6 Posted January 16 Here are the two different reference books that identify these buttons. These were from the forum. I agree with what you guys are saying about this not being a CPO button. I wondering if this button is something else altogether. It is possible those buttons were added and were not original. Haven’t been able to find another of these pants picture online that has these buttons.
