aznation Posted December 30, 2025 #1 Posted December 30, 2025 Hello, GunsAmerica Article => https://gunsamerica.com/digest/cmp-resurrects-the-m1-garand/ I don't know if anyone saw this or not but I did because I get Gunsamerica articles sent to me. In any case, I've always wanted an M-1 Garand and recently had purchased a brand new M-1 Carbine made by Inland. I wanted it's WWII companion, the M-1 Garand to accompany it. I went through the process of reserving one on CMP's website and had to wait for couple of months but just before Christmas I received it. Merry Christmas to me!!! I must've been good. It's a beautiful rifle indeed even though the cost was somewhat expensive, $1900.00, plus $40 shipping and $25 FFL Transfer Fee. The first 100 rifles were to be auctioned with premium early serial numbers. Then numbers 101 through 1001 would have serial numbers beginning with FNDR. After 1001 regular serial numbers would begin. Mine was numbered FNDR-140, meaning mine was the 140th one made. I had to go through the regular CMP procedures before purchasing it and they were the ones that shipped it to an FFL store of my choice. I had never went through CMP procedures before so it was just a very slight challenge in that I had to join a CMP related firearms club in my state. The rest of the procedure just involved me providing a copy of my driver's license, etc. The M-1 Garand came with a custom hard case as well which is really nice. Along with the Springfield SA-35, a new copy of the Browning High Power and a WWI German Luger, I think I'm done purchasing war related weapons that go BANG! At least my wife says so, lol. I'm not done with edged weapons though.
domi88 Posted December 30, 2025 #2 Posted December 30, 2025 super aznation for this beautiful Christmas. you are lucky in the USA to be able to own weapons of war... in France it is practically not possible. yet there are...

Thanks...Yes, it is a great Christmas present. It just happened to come in right before X-mas. I wasn't sure how long it was going to take to get it but it just worked out that way. We are EXTREMELY fortunate in the USA to be able to own any weapon, other than like machine guns, etc.
The Rooster Posted December 30, 2025 #4 Posted December 30, 2025 Thats beautiful Buddy! Very nice and that early serial number is a huge plus. The CMP's rebuilt M1's are fantastic. And yours being not rebuilt but brand new production is why you paid what you did. Its a keeper! And I'l wager a great shooter! Are you going to oil the stock or leave her be? It looks mighty nice ! I must agree we are fortunate to have our firearm rights in the USA. Something to fight to keep. And domi88 prob does not know this, but if you get the license and have the money to afford one,,..... you can own a machine gun still in the USA. Nice one my friend. Congratulations! Let us know how she shoots. I love firing mine. But at around $1.12 a shot, I dont fire too many too often.
Brian Dentino Posted December 30, 2025 #5 Posted December 30, 2025 My, my..........what a pretty girl you have there AZ! She's a beaut and I will bet will be a superb shooter when you take her out and let her do her thing at the range. Congrats on your Christmas present......you must have been VERY good this year!
Charlie Flick Posted December 30, 2025 #6 Posted December 30, 2025 That's a great rifle you have there. I am sure that you will have years of enjoyment with it. The Garand Collectors Association Journal recently published an article on these rifles. In the Fall 2025 there is an article entitled Heritage Arms USA, LLC - New CMP M1 Garand Receivers by Rob Clark. It gives a lot of background on how these came to be and how the receivers are made. You might want to take a look at that. Regards, Charlie
Marshallj Posted December 31, 2025 #7 Posted December 31, 2025 Maybe just one more from CMP - RECLAIMED M1903/M1903A3 RIFLES – COMING SOON!
Gear Fanatic Posted December 31, 2025 #8 Posted December 31, 2025 Congrats Matt. The perfect addition to any collection. And a great recreational rifle.

Firearms are but a small part of those rights, and for the record you can own tanks with live cannons, machine guns, and jet fighter aircraft among other things in most of the US. You are also free to expand your horizons here and not limit yourself to just a Garand, when you can own a WW2 Thompson! Best of luck with the new toy!
509 PIB Posted December 31, 2025 #10 Posted December 31, 2025 Nice rifle. I thought about getting one and even filled out the paperwork, but when it came right down to it, I didn't send it in. Instead, I spent the money on a couple of early war rack grades on a trip to Anniston a few weeks afterward. The good news is CMP is getting military shotguns in 2026. Passed Congress; now they just have to work out the details. That's a Christmas present too!
The Rooster Posted December 31, 2025 #11 Posted December 31, 2025 If you were or are an E6 or above, in the armed forces, you dont need to belong to a gun club etc to purchase through the CMP. That requirement is waived for E6 and up. You have to send them proof of rank. I found that out recently its on their website though I never noticed it before.

I'm not yet whether I will oil the stock or not but I'm inclined to leave it as is. I'll let you know how it shoots when I get a chance. Those rounds are cheaper than my 45-70 rounds, so that's good.

Thanks Rooster, but I was just a lowly E-4 Sergeant so I had to get a gun club membership. Oh well...rank has its privileges as the saying goes.
