Sherlock Posted December 22, 2025 #1 Posted December 22, 2025 Thought i’d show off my Early and Late-model APH-5 flight helmets, plus their original helmet bags. I bought the late-model first (dated 1968), in a job lot with a load of other Vietnam kit. It’s named to Thomas.R.Pueschel, a CW2 Cobra pilot during Vietnam and who sadly passed away in 2019. I also received his named MA-1 jacket and APH-5 helmet bag, the ‘ping pong’ style. It’s in great condition, though was missing the inner pads which I replaced. At some point the visor cover has been replaced by one from an AFH-5, which has confused many people. The early-model (dated 1961) is a bit more battered but still has the original pads and fits perfectly. The visor cover is cracked at the top and the visor knob doesn’t fit quite right. The helmet bag didn’t come with it (I bought it off of a guy on fb) but is of the correct type.
usmcski Posted December 22, 2025 #2 Posted December 22, 2025 Gorgeous helmets, thanks for sharing! Hard to find in such condition, great to see them. Semper, Ski
Sherlock Posted December 22, 2025 Author #3 Posted December 22, 2025 Thanks Ski, they’re not exactly common over here but they’re not rare either. Sherlock
