Hey all,

Tomorrow I’ll be interviewing a Marine who served with the 2nd Parachute Bn at Choiseul, and then was wounded at Iwo Jima while serving with HQ/3/27.

I know Paramarine items are a unique niche in the Marine Corps collecting world, and anecdotal evidence can sometimes shed some light on things we encounter as collectors.

Does anyone have any questions for him? I’m happy to ask.

Cheers,

Patrick

I wish I would have seen this before you interviewed him! I would absolutely love to hear or watch his interview if you’d like to share. And I hope you asked plenty of questions specific to his Para service! I feel that most interviewers on the rare occasion they find a Paramarine they just skip over that part of their service when they should actually be focusing on it!

Agreed, wish I would have seen this. I would have been interested in stateside training, any specific pieces of gear he remembers using stateside that he carried over in theater (para specific). That’s all I can think of off the top of my head as I type this at midnight. I’m sure there’s so many great questions that could be asked.

You are so correct, and its likely because they were all broken up and so many ended up at Iwo Jima. We have a large grouping from a Michigan para marine at Michigan's Military Heritage Museum in Jackson. Part of the grouping are volumes of the association magazine with tons of great articles and pictures.      Scott

I remember you commented on my welcoming post! I’m about 50 minutes from the museum but I have yet to make a run down there. I am exited to see what there is when I get the time!
