Is there a way to date this Department of the Army Distinguished Civilian Service award?

Hi guys my first ever post here looking forward to contributing to this community.

 

I am a WW2 US medal collector and trying to decide if this Department of the Army Distinguished Civilian Service medal is appropriate for my WW2 medal collection.

 

I understand that this award was established in December 1945 which is obviously a few months after the wars end. My question therefore is that given this medal has a slot brooch is there a way to determine if this is one of the first batches of medals made. If this was the case I feel as though there would be a strong chance that this medal would have been awarded for actions performed in WW2, and thus appropriate for my WW2 medal collection in my eyes.

 

I am not sure if the ID numbers in the case is a dead giveaway as I am not very knowledgable in this area. Thanks so much for any thoughts.

In this case, the label gives the date: July 1959.

This medal was established in 1945 and was awarded for services during WW II.  However, the version of this medal that you would be interested in has an inscription indicated award from the War Department.  This version is hard to find, but occasionally and rarely turns up on ebay.
