jrhinehart50 Posted December 18, 2025 #1 Posted December 18, 2025 Hello, I recently got a surplus stock from cmp. There doesn't seem to be any markings so I was hoping to get some information such as when it was made/used etc. if anyone knows anything I'd appreciate the help, thanks!
The Rooster Posted December 18, 2025 #2 Posted December 18, 2025 It looks to me like it might be birch wood? Thats all Ive got. Reminds me a a surplus M14 stock I had that was made out of birch.

Rhscott Posted December 18, 2025 #4 Posted December 18, 2025 Im thinking a non US made BEECH wood stock most likely from Italy or Denmark. Beech typically has the “fleck” look in the grain that this one shows and Birch does not have this.
doyler Posted December 18, 2025 #5 Posted December 18, 2025 Dupage has stocks as well and makes them. Recall they took over from Boyds. THinking the CMP gets the new stocks from Dupage.
M1Garandy Posted December 18, 2025 #6 Posted December 18, 2025 I agree with Rhscott. This appears to be a Beech stock. IIRC, some of those fat European Beech stocks came back on the Greek and/or possibly Turkish M1's that the CMP received.
