Colt.45-94 Posted December 12, 2025 #1 Posted December 12, 2025 I have this Navy dress jacket in my collection. It's unlike any other I've seen. Hoping others here can help me ID it's origins.
Colt.45-94 Posted December 13, 2025 Author #2 Posted December 13, 2025 hey all This post was originally posted in the "Please ID" fourm but was moved here. In any case this uniform is very odd to me. im unfamiliar with "LINC" patch. I don't recognize most od the ribbons, buy one looks like it's missing a device, like good conduct knots? It has a button sewn on the shoulder like for attaching an epaulette?
Colt.45-94 Posted December 13, 2025 Author #3 Posted December 13, 2025 looks like WWII era bullion SCPO rank, Storekeeper rating, 8 service bars?
DD937 Posted December 13, 2025 #4 Posted December 13, 2025 The star for Sr, Chief was not worn until the late 50's I don't know what LINC is but the ribbons must be from that org. If LINC allowed him to wear his Navy rank he should have had some actual navy ribbons also. Also I wonder if the top two service stripes were connected to his LINC time??
sigsaye Posted December 13, 2025 #5 Posted December 13, 2025 The rates of Senior and Madter Chief were created in 1958. The ribbons are NOT, USN. They look like Sea Cadet or some other organization like it, which would account for the “LINC” patch. The Hashmarks are put together, meaning, various sets, of different ages, sewn on. While this may have started life as a USN Senior Chief Storekeepers uniform, that is not what it is now. You need to find out what “LINC” is. Probably a school.
Colt.45-94 Posted December 13, 2025 Author #6 Posted December 13, 2025 Thanks guys I thought it might be something like Navy ROTC. I found this info online. One of ribbons on the rack is of an NSCC Escort officer. A Navy veteran who supervises the cadets of United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. This jacket must of belonged to one of them. Sea Cadets was founded 1960s, Still no idea about the patch, but I would have to guess this was school based in the boston area because of the makers tags on the jacket. https://usnsccmasonddg87.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/USNSCC-Ranks-Ribbons-and-Medals.pdf
