Chief D Posted December 6, 2025 #1 Posted December 6, 2025 Trying to identify. Many like it but have not found one the same. Thanks in advance.
Jeffro Posted December 6, 2025 #2 Posted December 6, 2025 Hey Chief D, can we see a photo of the back of this patch? What size is it? Any other clues about where you found it? Jeffro
Salvage Sailor Posted December 6, 2025 #4 Posted December 6, 2025 Appears to be a Scouting or Observation squadron
Chief D Posted December 7, 2025 Author #5 Posted December 7, 2025 The patch is a large 5 3/4" . It was purchased at an estate of a former SEAL UDT Team member (no name given). There were not any identifiable "hints" as there were only a couple of patches and other military items that all seemed "random" and not connected to the operator.
Chief D Posted December 8, 2025 Author #6 Posted December 8, 2025 Ironically, I thought the same. It screams Navy to me (off on time line. assumed WWII). I let the internet and AI sway me in the Air Force direction. My original thought was a Patrol squadron. Just back to the "8".
Johnny Signor Posted February 28 #7 Posted February 28 I'm thinking Navy, either a VS, VPB/VP anti sub type and the "8" for the crew number . the older felt thread combo type like this probably makes it WW2 maybe Korean era but I'd bet on being Navy. Quote
