WW1 USMC 2nd Division Patch Display

Saw this great display recently at the National Museum of The Marine Corps.    All patches were constructed using the same "standard issue" embroidered star sewn on felt and apparently for the sole purpose of making this display.  Would be interesting to know when, by whom, and where this patch blanket was created. Looks vintage.  Probably during the occupation period.

 

And, the display enables you to quickly visualize how many different helmets you need to find for a "complete" collection of those.  haha
