glenm Posted April 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2009 "New" and "vintage" US Army Officers at the first 17th Airborne Commemorative March through the villages around Flamierge (just northwest of Bastogne), where the 17th Airborne had their first combat... Cheers, Glen.
glenm Posted April 23, 2009 Author Share #2 Posted April 23, 2009 Some more photos from the event.... The event worked very well, especially as it was the first go at it, with the re-enactors and the serving US Army guys getting on really well and providing a suitable parade for the commemoration at the memorial at Flamierge itself. The UK guys from our unit to start with: SSgt Richards and Pvt Stedman: Yours truly: US Army, past and present: Cheers, Glen.
glenm Posted April 23, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 23, 2009 Few more: Parading down to the memorial at the end of the march: Bit of practice for the wreathlaying (in case anyone wonders why my 1st Sgt has no gear on!): Pvt Barry: 1st Sgt Saunders: Cheers, Glen. Corpsmancollector Posted April 23, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2009 Great pictures Glen! Especially like the black & white ones. I did something similar when I portrayed 326th Engineers, 101st. over in Eindhoven for the 60th anniversary of Market Garden. Its great to participate in and I feel gives you a deep connection and appreciation for those we attempt to portray. Great work, keep it up Will

glenm Posted April 29, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted April 29, 2009 Cheers guys! (Will, I get the feeling I should know you since we were there in Eindhoven as well, at the encampment in the park and taking part in the torchlight parade, etc.?) Here's one more for you guys from the 17th Airborne March: Cheers, Glen.
