I acquired this original WWI Aviator wing about 7 years ago. It is a shirt or sweetheart size wing measuring about 1 5/8" wide. Stamped on the back

is STERLING and W CO below. The hallmark is that of the William Link Company of Newark, New Jersey. What's interesting about the hallmark is that

the interlocked rounds of a chain form a link, whereby, the W is in the left round and CO in the right round. So what you see is W (link) CO. Even the

pin is marked W CO, and then there's the old style locking clasp. I believe this style wing was issued in 1917. The front has excellent detail and I believe

the US is 10K gold. WWI wings are seldom encountered in this size with a maker's mark. Enjoy the images!

Regards, George

John Cooper

George tahnks for posting! There appears to be lots of detail present in the feathers along with hand cut gold or gold plated U.S. on such a small wing.

Look closely at the US it is the same design and cut out letters that we have been discussing on the Campbell WC Link wing.
