BarriosMilitaria Posted November 9, 2025 #1 Posted November 9, 2025 Here's a 03 Springfield I picked up awhile back, it's a RIA with a 1911 receiver and a 9-11 barrel. It's in overall beautiful shape, I've had a few people suggest that it's a Greek return due the the etched bolt, but the placement and the 3 instead of 4 digits is something I haven't seen on other examples. It also lacks the characteristics that other Greeks have such as finish, SN on stock and pinned floorplate. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with it and it would look great displayed with my pre WWI eagle snap gear.
BarriosMilitaria Posted March 12 Author #2 Posted March 12 Finally got the perfect bayonet to go with it, a 1906 SA with Type II scabbard.
GWS Posted March 14 #3 Posted March 14 Wow, i missed this one big time! Very nice looking RIA! You might look for the bolt steel lot code at the front of the safety lug, it could be a D1 or a C13. If you don't find anything there, the bolt may have been replaced at some point. I don't think the engraved S/N on the bolt means it's a Greek returned rifle, to me it indicates that it was marked just to keep that bolt with that rifle for correct headspace. I would say that the stock has been refinished by the faint P proofmark, is there any evidence of a cartouche on the stock? Most RIA rifles of that era had the CN(Conrad Nelson) stamp. You also have a very nice SA bayonet and early scabbard. An early sling, front sight cover and a cleaning kit would complete this good looking outfit. Keep looking! Thanks for showing this. Steve
