Slugger Posted November 3, 2025 #1 Posted November 3, 2025 Greetings, new old guy here from the NW. I'm and old soul born too late and have been a gun guy/knife all my life. Just recently picked up a Garand. Father and I were always planning to do the CMP thing but time just got away from us. Picked up a PAL 43 1905 10" and RIA 1917 16" to go along with the M1, so here I am gleaning info from the source. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm a 55yr old A&P mech at an un-named manufacturer. Watching my grand kids grow and dreaming about retirement. We'll see how that turns out in about 13yrs. Anyway I've always been interested in militaria but spent most of my time on more modern models. ARs breed like rabbits in the safe and I've built 12-15 FAL rifles, dabbled in the AK, AUG etc. But I've always been enamored by the creations of the right reverend John Moses Browning. That guy was a genius. Anyhoo, just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. D
deddygetty Posted November 3, 2025 #2 Posted November 3, 2025 Welcome, neighbor. Old guy from Tacoma here. Amen to Brother Browning! Dad brought back a piece of his legacy after WW II in the form of a German occupation manufactured Belgian FN "Browning Hi-Power", complete with holster and spare serial numbered magazine. The pistols serial number is handwritten on my dad's WW II ID card, 909939. The gun was stolen in the early 1990s.
Slugger Posted November 3, 2025 Author #3 Posted November 3, 2025 That's a horrible story. Sounds like it was a great piece with some history on it. One of my uncles had a Luger stolen from his car. I can't imagine. Good to meet you deddygetty!
