Front seam, fixed bale, named helmet with post-war liner.

Hello all.

Looking for a value on this helmet and liner. Original finish but the Spade was added a few years ago.

Name and serial number of soldier is stamped inside twice. Once a misprint and the other is legible. Leon E(or F) Buffum.

Number 591B stamped inside, front, right where the brim turns.

Liner, I believe, is Korean war vintage.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thats a WW2 front seam fixed bail, made by McCord... The oval crimps at the front are McCord and the stainless rim

and the number 591 make it early WW2. You could remove the spade without damaging the green underneath. Acetone should remove it

as long as its not water based. Acetone removes re enactor etc spray paint fairly easily. And the old WW2

lead based paint stays put. Just go easy and slow. Test a small area. Thats if you want to remove it.

The liner is, I would say late 1960's. Vietnam era.

The name in the steel and the 8 digit number are WW2.

This site in France allows you to enter the heat number on the shell and get a general range of production.

Never sand or remove paint to try and read a heat number.
