repbrock Posted January 25, 2020 Share #801 Posted January 25, 2020 I should be getting known on here by now for my wild guesses and speculations.... But Il make another one on this helmet. It seems like maybe this one was cammoed for its intended purpose rather than a souvenier.??? I have seen a number of these sell on ebay over the years. If you go to worthpoint, com you can probably find them through the right search words.
AustinO Posted January 25, 2020 Share #802 Posted January 25, 2020 I suspect this is one of the patterns sold at the docks while doughboys were on their way home. I have seen a couple different insignia on them but most commonly the 7th.

Pbaczuk Posted August 15, 2020 Share #804 Posted August 15, 2020 Here is a nice helmet that I found in Utah today. This is a 5th regiment hq helmet that was British made. I have not cleaned it yet.
BigJohn#3RD Posted August 17, 2020 Share #805 Posted August 17, 2020 You might be able to find the former owner, many WWI veterans marked their names on the chinstraps or insides the liner skirt. You can use a mixture of 50/50 of vinegar and water and an old washcloth to gently clean the leather of the entire chin strap. Good luck and let us know if you find a name. ispy Posted December 27, 2020 Share #812 Posted December 27, 2020 .....probably the finest and most interesting WW1 I've owned. As a lover of the fine arts this is an extraordinary example of the movement of art nouveau painted meticulously on a helmet.

FDR32 Posted March 5, 2021 Share #814 Posted March 5, 2021 Hello all. I am new to the forum, and this is my first post, but I thought I would share this one. It is a US made helmet, and it, too, has an interesting and showy pattern. It was also modified to accept the Wilmer eye shield, and even still has two rings attached. What are your thoughts on it? Oregon1911 Posted March 12, 2021 Share #821 Posted March 12, 2021 After discovering the new forum template is friendly to hosting images, I'd like to play. 🙂 Let's start with a 2/6 Marine M-1917, complete with liner & chinstrap. Sourced from the family's estate. Thanks for looking, Cody
644td Posted March 12, 2021 Share #822 Posted March 12, 2021 Cody, that is a beautiful helmet. Did you get the Marines name? Your helmets are top shelf and yes the forum is a lot friendlier for loading pictures. marty
