ZeroAlpha Posted April 29, 2016 Share #601 Posted April 29, 2016 I was going to pick up one of these at an Army Navy store that was going out of business after many years. When I was trying to decide which one I wanted, I noticed the names inside. I don't think the people at the store realized they had a father and son set. These were both in the display window of the store.

ZeroAlpha Posted April 29, 2016 Share #604 Posted April 29, 2016 Thanks! It's not really what I specialize in, but I couldn't stand to see a father/son set get broken up. I've had a hard time searching the son's records (although it's interesting to note that his unit; G Co., 109th Infantry, 28th ID was the company that Pvt Eddie Slovik was assigned to serve with before he was executed). I have, however found record of the father in the 5th Marines: Robert E. Odell was a corporal and clerk in regimental HQ, 5th Marine Regiment. repbrock Posted June 15, 2016 Share #613 Posted June 15, 2016 Here is a beauty I just picked up. I'd to a "severly wounded" member of Company M, 3rd Infantry Regiment. Paul Commentucci.

You mean 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division? The 3rd Infantry Regiment spent WW1 on the Mexican border.

repbrock Posted June 16, 2016 Share #617 Posted June 16, 2016 Possible balloon squadron? No ID or other markings. Still a very nice scenery painted helmet... Collectors are buying German spiked helmets for 300-500, when they could be buying these beauties... Seen one spiked helmet, you've seen them all.
