AK101 Posted April 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2009 My Cole book and intrawebs research tells me that this is likely a "2nd Gen" Ka-Bar, blade possibly refinished based on some feedback I have received on the pics. doyler Posted April 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2009 AK I was thinking it appeared refinnished.Possibly an old cold blue treatment.Does it have a slight chemical odor?(possibly from a recent refinnish) At any rate a nice looking old Kabar in my book. AK101 Posted April 22, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 22, 2009 Does it have a slight chemical odor?(possibly from a recent refinnish No Sir, no oder. Kind of smells like the leather sheath to me..... It could have been refinished 20+ years ago for all I know. I am in the Southwest desert where evaporative cooling is still popular, they wreak havoc on gun and knife collections if you don't keep an eye on them. Is anyone aware of any pics of a real nice blued Ka-bar blade for reference? I did find out that the sheath is correct, I was worried about the snap but evidently the "glove" snap is correct for the "red spacer" period Ka-Bar. Thanks!!
