navyman Posted April 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2009 Hi, I bought these items on ebay a week or two ago. There was more of his uniform up for sale but settled for this one. I won his pistol holster also, in the auction it said it was for a .45 cal. The jacket and holster has his name on. The holster had a tag on it. Here's a link with a little information a forum member gave me. Can anyone find any other info on this guy. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...showtopic=40706 Jason

GIl Sanow Posted April 21, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 21, 2009 Nice. We do know these were authorized during WW2 only, so he was not on the ill-fated USS Thresher that sank later on. G
Stinger Gunner USMC Posted April 21, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 21, 2009 Navyman, Thats a nice grouping... Too bad they were split apart though. I had been watching these auctions and wondered if anyone of the forum ended up with them. I have a just post war CPO uniform to a Thresher veteran that did 15 war patrols. i've done a bit of research on the ship. They had some interesting patrols! FYI they were attacked by a DE and a Patrol plane's depth Bombs on Dec 7&8th 1941 off Pearl trying to return to base. She was also an escort to the Enterprise and Hornet during the Tokoyo Raid. Teutonen Posted April 21, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 21, 2009 Very nice. You don't see the grays worn too much as they had a short "life span' in the Navy.

Thanks for the information, Yes it was a shame as you probably know there was two more gray jackets and a khaki jacket and his undress whites when he was a first class. Congrat'sDan Thanks Dan, I thought about going after that khaki cpo jacket. Probably should have, OH WELL. I went after this one because I thought this one out of the three gray ones look in the best shape even though the buttons are missing. I have some but I will have to find the pocket buttons. I have someone else looking but would be interested if you have some . Thanks, Jason
