Hello everyone. I have this 48 star flag I think may be a no 9 ensign. It has 4 brass grommets on the hoist each stamped with a number 2 on both sides, reinforced corners on the hoist, measures 3.5 x 6.2 ft. Has a very faded stamp on the hoist that might say U. S. ENS. NO 9, although everything after US is my speculation based on the shape and length of the stamps. Wondering if I can get additional thoughts on whether or not it may be an early or prewar naval ensign since I know they switched to zinc plated steel grommets around mid war. Thanks in advance
