Marc Garlasco Posted September 20, 2025 #1 Posted September 20, 2025 All, Got a grouping to a US pilot in 49th pursuit squadron. Had one kill. Wondering what victory medal he would have gotten. As an aside his letters home were published and some wild combat stories. Just crazy what these first combat aviators did. thanks Marc
collectsmedals Posted September 21, 2025 #2 Posted September 21, 2025 The 2nd pursuit group was awarded the World War 1 Victory medal with only the France service clasp. Source: World War I Victory Medals with a History of the United States Victory Medal Expanded Edition by James P. Michels Jr.
Marc Garlasco Posted September 21, 2025 Author #3 Posted September 21, 2025 Huh. Isn’t that for units that weren’t in combat? Thanks though
