Hi team

I need help on identyfing  when  the below supply sgt chevron was used .

I have looked thru Emersons book on chevrons , whilst I have found ref to WWI Troop, battery, company QM SUPPLY SGT 1916,1918-1920(306) I am confused with the one I have shown.

Is this a 1920 chevron , before the new ranking system was approved or manufacturers  made in anticipation based on WWI examples or a 1930s chevron which I am unsure they used this style by then.

I have a WWI style Supply Sgt for comparison.

cheers

Phill

1920 'unofficial' chevron. Tolerated in many places/cases and worn up to early WW2, mainly by National Guardsmen, Reserves, and old timers. Emerson covers these in some manner although it has to be gleaned across several pages and sections. The simplification of the official chevron system in 1920 was never fully implemented and old traditional patterns with the new background color continued to be worn. The twill or embroidered type chevron bars (rather than cut felt) usually indicates later1920's - 30's.

Much appreciated for the detailed reply.

As you have pointed out you had to read into the text over several  pages to figure it out.

It would make sense to apply to NG,AUS than RA.
